Adoption
is an amazing opportunity for both orphans and adoptive
families, and
it is a blessing to both. Sadly, many children will
never be a part of a family. They grow up in orphanages
feeling unwanted, unvalued, and unloved by anyone. Hosting
international orphans in homes is a great way to show these
children that they are valued and loved by the God who
created them and by people who are following God’s
call to reach out to them.

This aspect of an orphan ministry involves inviting children
who live in orphanages in other countries here to Hattiesburg
for a couple of weeks
during the summer to stay in a family’s home. People will have an
opportunity to invest in a child’s life by spending time with him
or her and showing the love of Christ to him. Orphans would spend the days
during their visit swimming, fishing, riding bikes, taking field trips,
hearing about Christ’s love and participating in other activities
they would never have the chance to experience. Most importantly, the children
need to have someone show them that they are loved and valued.
God’s people have a great opportunity to make an eternal difference
in a child’s life. It will take dedication from many people to accomplish
this task. People will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety
of ways:
• Pray for the children and adults who
will participate in the camps
• Prepare for the orphans’ arrival
• Work “behind the scenes” while the children are here
• Spend time with the children during daily activities
• Sponsor activities
• Donate money to finance this ministry.
